Christmas is a time to slow down, and re-charge the batteries. It’s a time to relax, knowing that all you have to do is secure your seat in front of the fire and hold it, until dinner is ready. It’s the time to catch up with the relatives over a glass of port (the perfect accompaniment to any catch up conversation, right?).
We believe in the traditional values of Christmas, like spending time with loved ones and eating delicious food, sharing experiences and watching the Queen’s speech. We understand however, this is not everyone’s cup of tea (or should we say glass of mulled wine?), and know that all families create their own traditions, just not necessarily traditional.
Whether it is watching slapstick Christmas movies, eating your own body weight in chocolate or completing the puzzle you bought for your nephew; we all have our own customs which make the festive season so special!
Here at The Wheatsheaf, we know that no Christmas is complete without good food and drink and our team of Chef’s have created a delicious festive menu, packed with all your favourite celebratory tastes. From the traditional roast turkey with sprouts, pigs in blankets, sage & onion stuffing and thyme roasted carrots and parsnips to alternative dishes like a grilled fillet of sea bass on a bed of buttered mash with a spiced chorizo, butter bean and spinach stew.
No celebration would be complete without a glass of your favourite tipple to aid the good times and we have you covered with a great seasonal drinks list too. We like to source locally when possible and feature many local breweries and distilleries, from the ever popular Hogs Back Brewery, to the exquisite Silent Pool gin.
Join us for a celebratory drink this month or tuck into a dish from our new winter menu, go on you know you want to!
